SCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVALS - 50M POOL CLOSED

Wulanda is excited to once again host the High School Swimming Carnivals for 2026.

While the 50m Outdoor Pool is closed to the general public during each carnival, all indoor pools are open as normal, so there is still lots of room for everyone to keep swimming and having fun.

The 50m Outdoor Pool will be open for general swimming at times before and after the carnivals.
Public Access Opening Swimming Times for the Outdoor 50m Pool:

  • Fri 6 Feb: 6.00am –7.30am & 3.30pm –7.30pm
  • Mon 9 Feb: 6.00am –7.30am & 3.30pm –7.30pm
  • Tue 10 Feb: 6.00am –7.30am & 3.30pm –7.30pm
  • Wed 11 Feb: 6.00am –7.30am & 3.30pm –7.30pm
  • Thu 12 Feb: 6.00am–7.30pm (No Carnival)
  • Fri 13 Feb: 6.00am–7.30am & 3.30pm –7.30pm

Welcome to Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre


Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre is a state-of-the-art multi-purpose sport, aquatic and conference facility in Mount Gambier.​​

Wulanda, meaning ‘enjoy or cherish’ in Bunganditj language, is a gathering place for all to participate in sports, recreation, community activities and events.

A new aquatic centre with a 25-metre lap pool, learn-to-swim pool, warm water program pool, and children’s splash pad has been built, and the existing 50m outdoor pool has been updated. In addition, six multi-purpose courts, change rooms and amenities, a gym and allied services provide ample opportunity to participate in sports and recreation.

Whether it is basketball, netball, futsal, volleyball, tennis, roller skating, badminton, or dance, this is the place to be. The health club will provide opportunities for all ages to maintain fitness, create social connections, and increase general wellness.

More than 1,000 people can attend conferences, events, and performances making Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre the hub of community leisure activities in Mount Gambier.

Please note:
*These are the Warm Water Pool public access hours, not including programs. 

The Centre will be closed on Good Friday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day and close at 5pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

40% of South Australian drownings are multicultural. Wulanda is pushing for change

In a shocking statistic, 40% of drowning fatalities in South Australia have involved people from a multicultural background, with two-thirds of these involving individuals from a non-English-speaking background. In a bid to tackle this issue head on, Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre have partnered with Royal Life Saving South Australia and launched a regular Multicultural Women’s-Only Swim and Water Safety Program.
